RapMusic.com Review of Pursuance

Soul Khan is a lot of things. A popular retired battle rapper, viral video/Reddit star, MTVU mainstay, your drunken polisci-majoring RA…but what he’s been most lately is on a roll.

Eschewing the standard multiple-mixtape release hustle, the Cali-bred Brooklyn transplant recently released the third in a series of stylized conceptual EPs, each titled in tribute to suites from John Coltrane’s legendary release A Love Supreme. Following last spring’s Acknowledgement and this fall’s Resolution is Pursuance, an EP that continues Soul’s tradition of humanist boom-bap with an irreverent slant and enough playful wit to make the medicine go down. The 6-track release is, as always, produced in-house with Brown Bag All-Star members J57 and Audible Doctor, and comes with a free download of “Mr. Governor,” a heartfelt indictment of capital punishment and recent execution of Troy Davis.

Resolution EP Review: @crayonbeats

The album as a whole is dope. Production is on point — heavy hip hop, soaked in soul — and the mic skills are niiiice. Let me shed light on two tracks in particular, Read more

Livin' A Good Life with @LIVEAGL

Want to give the blog, Live A Good Life a shout out for posting and writing about the Lost Ones video. Mister P writes:

This video made me laugh. Soul Khan has bars for days it seems. I was really skeptical and I really didn’t think it was Lauryn Hill’s version he would be freestyling over. Read more

Legendary hip hop staple, The Source posted the Resolution EP last week. It's good to know Soul Khan's hard work is starting to put him on the map of the larger media outlets. We just have to work on getting 5 mics now...

Thanks To DJ Booth For The Feature

DJ Booth featured the new cut "Lord Khan Almighty" from the Resolution EP last week.  Here's a little blurb from their post, click the link to read more:

Founder of what would become the largest contiguous empire in the history of the world, Genghis Khan is, to this day, synonymous with “fearsome conqueror.” Thus far, Booth fave Soul Khan hasn’t shown that kind of ambition, instead focusing on cultivating an ardent underground following—but perhaps he was simply biding his time...
