RapMusic.com Review of Pursuance
Soul Khan is a lot of things. A popular retired battle rapper, viral video/Reddit star, MTVU mainstay, your drunken polisci-majoring RA…but what he’s been most lately is on a roll.Eschewing the standard multiple-mixtape release hustle, the Cali-bred Brooklyn transplant recently released the third in a series of stylized conceptual EPs, each titled in tribute to suites from John Coltrane’s legendary release A Love Supreme. Following last spring’s Acknowledgement and this fall’s Resolution is Pursuance, an EP that continues Soul’s tradition of humanist boom-bap with an irreverent slant and enough playful wit to make the medicine go down. The 6-track release is, as always, produced in-house with Brown Bag All-Star members J57 and Audible Doctor, and comes with a free download of “Mr. Governor,” a heartfelt indictment of capital punishment and recent execution of Troy Davis.

Concert Review by @birthplacemag
Excerpt: Soul Khan doesn’t battle rap any more. As capable as he was in the arena of trash talking freestyling, Soul Khan decided that his music was more important than running around the country facing inferior competition.Read more
