SYFFAL Feature: I haven't yet publicly feuded with anyone important via Twitter

Soul Khan makes you want to smoke European cigarettes and drive exotic two seat sports cars around with one hand on the wheel and one arm around that gal you just met in customs with the oversized sunglasses. Village Voice Feature: Soul Khan Makes Music For the Audience, Not Himself

Better late than never...

It's out today, and tomorrow Khan's celebrating with a release show at Brooklyn's Public Assembly. We spoke to the Brown Bag All Star about the one-producer one-MC dynamic, life after battling and where he would be if Fat Beats were still in business. Click to here read more.

Charlotte Preview: Creative Loafing

Soul Khan makes music to save your life. That’s a tall order for a bespectacled, nebbish, rockin’ junior-high-science-teacher look, but the Brooklyn MC has the smarts, heart and cojones to make it so...

Shout out to Wes Flexner for this piece: Brooklyn- based rapper Soul Khan’s Grindtime rap battles may have been viewed by millions on YouTube, but he doesn’t want you to hold that against him.

RapMusic.com Review of Pursuance

Soul Khan is a lot of things. A popular retired battle rapper, viral video/Reddit star, MTVU mainstay, your drunken polisci-majoring RA…but what he’s been most lately is on a roll.

Eschewing the standard multiple-mixtape release hustle, the Cali-bred Brooklyn transplant recently released the third in a series of stylized conceptual EPs, each titled in tribute to suites from John Coltrane’s legendary release A Love Supreme. Following last spring’s Acknowledgement and this fall’s Resolution is Pursuance, an EP that continues Soul’s tradition of humanist boom-bap with an irreverent slant and enough playful wit to make the medicine go down. The 6-track release is, as always, produced in-house with Brown Bag All-Star members J57 and Audible Doctor, and comes with a free download of “Mr. Governor,” a heartfelt indictment of capital punishment and recent execution of Troy Davis.

Pursuance Review on Kevin Nottingham

Pretty Hot Review by @therapup

The former battle champ Soul Khan recently released his EP ‘Pursuance,’ entirely produced by Audible Doctor, and has some surprises in store for those that expect a Canibus type fiasco (i.e. a highly talented battle emcee falling flat when trying to reach beyond his established tropes). Read more

Concert Review by @birthplacemag

Excerpt: Soul Khan doesn’t battle rap any more. As capable as he was in the arena of trash talking freestyling, Soul Khan decided that his music was more important than running around the country facing inferior competition.

Soul Like Khan Review: Tom Clements

Lyrically, it’s good, it’s honest and it’s clever, but not overly verbose, cryptic or confusing to listeners at the risk of alienating them. Easily relatable themes like family relationships, the importance of the places Soul has connections to and the state of Hip Hop in general are explored with occasional acerbic Jewish wit but more so with a warm sense of self-contentment and a down-to-earth level-headedness. Exclusive Interview: Refined Hype

Shout out to ThroatChopU for this feature. Definitely a good read...

I don’t sing. I don’t rhyme. I can’t produce tracks. I’m often the only non-rapper in a room. But I’ve always had an ear for good music and because of that, folks have respected my honest opinion. I don’t hold back. I’m also a fan of music. I actually remember when that meant something. RefinedHype has given me the opportunity to showcase a dope artist weekly, someone who is on the rise that has caught my ear and that you should definitely check out. This is "Return of The Real". Thanks To DJ Booth For The Feature

DJ Booth featured the new cut "Lord Khan Almighty" from the Resolution EP last week.  Here's a little blurb from their post, click the link to read more:

Founder of what would become the largest contiguous empire in the history of the world, Genghis Khan is, to this day, synonymous with “fearsome conqueror.” Thus far, Booth fave Soul Khan hasn’t shown that kind of ambition, instead focusing on cultivating an ardent underground following—but perhaps he was simply biding his time... Soul Khan's In The Hot Seat

MTVU recently interviewed Soul Khan for their "Hot Seat" interview series. He talks about his craziest touring experience and musical influences.

1. Tell us about your craziest touring experience. One time, in Prague, my DJ and I woke up in a cellar, hands bound behind our back, suspended upside down over a shark tank. Using my wits and my flexibility, I managed to not only free both of us, but ride the shark back to New York. That shark is now my hypeshark.
